SPENCER: Roger W. Berthiaume 78 of Sunberg Rd., died Saturday, Feb. 16 at Quaboag Rehab & Skilled Care Center, W.Brookfield.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Rita M. (Beaudreau) Berthiaume, his son David R. Berthiaume and his wife Lynn of Athol, three daughters Theresa M. Oriol and her husband David of Holden, Diane R. Lacroix and her husband Daniel of Spencer, and Denise L. Parker and her husband Paul of Brookfield, his brother Ernest Berthiaume and his wife Priscilla of E.Brookfield, and his sister Irene Gadbois and her husband Robert of Spencer, 10 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son R. Louis Berthiaume in 1983.
Roger was owner of Roger’s Cabinet Shop for 40 years, retiring in 1999. Born in Spencer, he was the son of Leo J. and Mary Rose (Lapierre) Berthiaume. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School and later served in the US Army (Peacetime). A member of St. John the Baptist Church in E.Brookfield, he also was their organist for more than 10 years. He was an avid musician, played in many local bands and venues including St. Mary’s Church in Spencer.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, No.Brookfield Rd., E.Brookfield. Burial will follow in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer.
