MARLBOROUGH: Marie Christine (DiTroia) Striano, 96, died peacefully on Monday, February 11, 2013 following a brief illness.
She was born in Quincy on January 15, 1917 the daughter of the late Julius DiTroia and Emelia (DiPaulo) DiTroia.
Marie is survived by her daughter Maryann Goblick of Wayland. She was the grandmother of Timothy M. Collins and his wife Susan M. Collins of Sudbury and Robert J. Collins and his wife Catherine Collins and their children Drew and Gwen all of Brookfield, NH. Marie was the wife for 52 years of the late Michael A. Striano.
Marie spent her entire life in Quincy and was a graduate of Quincy High School and only recently moved to Marlborough to be closer to her family.
Marie was a loving and devoted grandmother and her grandsons were the center of her life. She enjoyed the time that she spent with them and their families. In her earlier years, she enjoyed her vegetable and flowers gardens at her home in Quincy and was quite accomplished in growing many varieties of each. She also found great pleasure in doing arts and crafts and time visiting with friends. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time at the South Shore Center for the Blind in Quincy.
At the request of her family, private funeral services will be held at the family plot in Mount Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her memory may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
