Obituary

Mary E. “Betty” (Condon) (Dwyer) Monaghan 89, formerly a longtime resident of Abington, passed away Monday February 11. She was the beloved wife of the late William Dwyer and Paul Monaghan.

Born and raised in Brockton she was the daughter of the late Frank M. and Grace L. (Conley) Condon and a graduate of Brockton High Class of 1942, and the Williams Business School.

During World War II, Betty had proudly served her country as a member of the US Navy W.A.V.E.S.

She was the devoted mother of Sheila Frazier of Abington, Sharon Dwyer of East Bridgewater and Sheryl Sturtevant of Carver. She is also survived by her eight loving grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and her sister Barbara Reidy of NH as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jane Hurley and Francis Condon.

Mary’s Catholic faith was of the utmost importance to her and it guided her in how she lived each and every day of her life.

Her services will be held Thursday February 14 at 9:45 from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM in St. Bridget Church, Abington. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours are omitted by request of the family.
