WORCESTER-Josephine L. (Powers) Shea, 94, of 10 Homestead Avenue, died Wednesday, July 14th in The Meadows of Leicester. Her husband of 42 years, Timothy F. Shea died in 1984. She leaves 2 daughters, Mary T. wife of Robert M. Kennedy of Rochdale and Kathleen M. wife of Mark E. Colling of Fairbanks, AK, 5 grandchildren, Margaret Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Jr., Timothy Colling and his wife Angela, Matthew Colling and Mary Kate Colling and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, John, Thomas and Richard Powers and 3 sisters, Helen and Theresa Powers and Margaret McGovern.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of John J. and Theresa (Buckley) Powers and graduated from Commerce High School. Mrs. Shea was an administrative assistant at Mechanics Bank for 12 years, retiring in 1972. She was previously employed at the Worcester Parks Department and secretary to the late Congressman Harold Donohue. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and Notre Dame Academy Mother's Guild.
The funeral is Monday, July 19th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM the morning of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Notre Dame Academy, 425 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 or to the Our Lady of the Angels Restoration Fund, 1222 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
