Mersina Mamacos, 88

Mersina (Aivaliotis) Mamacos, age 88, of Foxboro, formerly of Dedham and Stoughton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the beloved wife of the late James M. Mamacos, to whom she was wed for over 50 years at the time of his death in 2007.
Born in Braddock, PA on March 16, 1924, she was a loving daughter of the late Antonio and Edmorfoula (Antonaki) Aivaliotis.
She grew up and was educated in Pennsylvania, Fitchburg and Boston. A resident of Foxboro for the past 6 years, she was a member of St. Gregory the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church in Mansfield.
In addition to being a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Mrs. Mamacos had assisted her late husband while living in Dedham and Stoughton. in the operation of James Mamacos, CPA
Mercy, as she was affectionately known, loved cooking sewing and playing bingo. She and her late husband were worldwide travelers and she enjoyed trips to Foxwoods. She loved spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted children, Elaine Bidianos of Brookline, Irene McQuiggan and her husband Rich of Mansfield and Charles J. Mamacos of Hanover. She was the dear sister of the late Helen Lewis and Mary Gramenelles and is also survived by her cherished 7 grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Gregory the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church, 1007 West St., Mansfield. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park in canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
