Chester A. Schofield, 73, of Chickering Rd., passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge. His wife Marion T. (Sparks) Schofield died in 2001.He leaves 2 sons; Carlton Fogg and his wife Ellen of Oxford and Herbert Lust of Chicopee, a sister, Barbara Chickering of Dudley, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Chet was also predeceased by a daughter, Simone (Lust) Bishop who died in 2012.
Chester was born in Oxford son of Chester I. and Alice (Gilbert) Schofield and grew up in Oxford. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade in 1957, and then enlisted in the U. S. Army. He worked for many years at the former Whip-O-Will Farm in Dudley before retiring. Chester enjoyed hunting and fishing in Maine, and he never missed a special occasion in the lives of his family members. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. If you were fortunate enough to be counted among his many friends, then you were truly blessed.
There are No Calling Hours. Burial will be in North Cemetery in Oxford.
A Celebration of Chet’s Life will Friday, November 9, 2013 at 11 AM at the First Congregational Church, 135 Center Rd., in Dudley., Burial will be Private in North Cemetery, Oxford.
The Robert J. Miller-Oxford Funeral Home, 247 Main St., in Oxford is assisting Chester’s family with arrangements.
