Joseph L. Birt, 93, of Berlin, NH passed away on Tuesday February 12, 2013 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. He was born in Berlin on February 25, 1919 the son of George and Elizabeth (Coltin) Birt and was a lifelong resident. He had been employed by Brown Company and James River Corp., was a member of Good Shepherd Parish and was a former member of the F.O. E.
Members of the family include his daughter Nancy Pickford and husband Thomas of Berlin; son Charles Birt and wife Debra of Manchester; grandchildren Katherine Lodge and husband George, Thomas Pickford and Alyssa Birt; brothers-in-law Roland Thibault and Arthur Fortier; sisters-in-law Myrna Birt, Polly Birt and Barbara Roberge; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Cora (Roberge) Birt, in 2012 and siblings Sarita Harvey, George Birt and Raymond Birt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 16, 2013 at 1 PM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. The Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
