Worcester—Florence (Koletzke) Boucher, 97, of 49 Pleasant Valley Drive passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, July 3, 2004. Her husband, Arthur Boucher, passed away in 1988.
She was born in Wallingford, CT, daughter of Paul A. and Anna Maria (Gleich) Koletzke. She went on to graduate from Mount Holyoke College where she studied music. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City and as an accomplished pianist, she performed publicly and also tutored many students in music throughout the years. Florence and Arthur enjoyed traveling in Europe and North America. She and Arthur relocated to Worcester, where as a registered nurse, Florence was a pioneer in early mental health research and worked on a study investigating slow wave phenomena of electroshock therapy.
Florence leaves few remaining family members and many friends who recognized and respected her as an extremely learned and charismatic personality who enjoyed life, traveling, and the fellowship of others. She led a full and active life and left a positive and lasting impression on all those fortunate enough to have known her. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 16, at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Salvation Army, 72 Cambridge Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
