Doreen U. “Dody” Minick, 89, of Salem, NH died Monday, February 4th at Salemhaven Nursing Home.
Doreen was born in London, England the daughter of the late Selina (Beswick) and Arthur Upson.
Her father, a ships captain in the merchant marine, her mother and sister Clare moved to America when Dody was an infant.
She grew up and was educated in Towson, Maryland.
Doreen was formerly a stewardess with Eastern Airlines, until her marriage to Robert G. Minick in June 1951.
They lived and raised their children, Tom and Jane, on Key Biscayne, Florida. She was a active member of Key Biscayne Presbyterian Church. She resided on Key Biscayne until moving to Tampa in 1988.
Dody enjoyed riding and caring for horses. She also enjoyed oil painting.
Dody moved to Salem, NH to live with her son and daughter-in-law in 1997, where she became an avid Red Sox fan. She attended Windham Presbyterian Church while she was able.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. Robert G. Minick and her daughter, Mary Jane Quinn.
She is survived by her son, Thomas and his wife Rita of Salem, NH;
2 grandchildren, Cheryl and Michael Minick;
3 great grandchildren, Anya, Amanda, and Andrew Minick;
and sister, Clare Finlayson of Seattle, Washington
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 12th at Windham Presbyterian Church, 1 Church Road, Windham, NH. Dody will be interred with Robert at Arlington National Cemetery.
