Obituary

Joseph P. Costa Jr., age 87, passed away Feb. 6, 2013. Born in Fall River and lived in Somerset most of his life, he was the husband of the late Florence (Candeias) Costa and the son of the late Joseph P. & Eliza (Moniz-Mota) Costa. Prior to retiring, Joe worked for the United States Postal Service, was a Sales Rep. for Britannica Encyclopedia, and was a Dale Carnegie Instructor. He also owned & operated Tex Barry’s Coney Island Hot Dogs in Somerset, Fall River, and Newport. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Shirley Ann Costa of Fall River and Patricia Thibault of FL; siblings: Manuel Costa (late wife Mary) of MI, Tony “TC” Costa (wife Violet) of FL, Ellie Leite (husband Manny) of Swansea, and the late Altino “Tex Barry” Costa (late wife Betty); grandchildren: Louis Jr., Desiree, & Julie; great grandson: Jason Jr.; many nieces & nephews.

The family would like to thank the Staff of Unit 3 at Catholic Memorial Home for their compassionate care of Joe.

A visitation for Family and Friends will be held on MONDAY in the SS. Margaret & Mary Chapel of Catholic Memorial Home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 A.M.
