Obituary

Lawrence S. Corbett a United States Marine Corps Veteran of WWII and longtime resident of Stoughton passed away on Wednesday February 6, 2013 at the Southeast Rehabilitation Skilled Care Center in North Easton. He was 92 years old and the beloved husband of 70 years to Helen J. (Chisholm) Corbett. He is survived by his daughter Janice (Corbett) Ross and her husband Robert E. Ross of West Bridgewater, his daughter in law Donna C. Corbett of South Easton, his sisters, Shirley Dolloff and her husband Lawrence, Marge Boutilier and her husband Arthur "Steve" Boutilier and his brother Robert E. Corbett and his wife Lois, all of Stoughton. Other survivors include 5 grandchildren, Lynda Corbett, Michelle McFarland, Tracy Chiruna, Jeffrey Ross, Keith Ross and 8 great grandchildren. Larry was also a father to the late Bruce G. Corbett and a brother to the late William Marden, Arthur Corbett. Maude Sawyer, Gladys Morris, Doris Fobes, Flora Holmes, Ernest Corbett, Harold Corbett, Roy Corbett and George Corbett.
Born August 13, 1920 in Stoughton, Massachusetts he was a son to the late William S. and Marion (Holbrook) Corbett. He attended Stoughton Public Schools and was a 1938 graduate of Stoughton High School.
PFC Corbett proudly served his country as an officer with the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was a AA Gunner, Firefighter and Patrolman while aboard the U.S.S. Alaska. He also attained the status as a Rifle Sharpshooter and Pistol Marksman. He was honorably discharged in December of 1945. He was a proud member of the Michael Romanuk VFW Post 1645, American Legion Post 89 and the Rising Star Lodge AF & AM all in Stoughton.
Mr. Corbett was employed as a Carpenter by the Town Of Stoughton Housing Authority for over 25 years. He retired in 1985. His hobbies included golfing and being a "family man ". He will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
His funeral service will be held on Monday February 11, 2013 at 1PM in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 11 AM — 1PM. All are welcome to attend. Burial will follow in South Easton Cemetery.
