Elsie R. (Vieira) Mogayzel, 86, of North Dartmouth, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital on February 5, 2013 after a period of declining health, she was surrounded by family.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Ermenia (Ventura) Vieira. Elsie grew up in New Bedford and resided in Dartmouth for the last 55 years. She was a proud homemaker, dedicated to her children and grandchildren and caring for her older siblings. She also volunteered for community service and enjoyed word puzzles, bingo nights and Foxwoods ventures with her children.
Elsie was the wife of the late William Mogayzel. She was the sister of Antone Vieira of New Bedford, and the late Julio, Virginio, and John Vieira; and the late Stella Cordeiro and Eva Mello.
Survivors include her children: William Mogayzel and wife Kathleen of Scituate, MA; Bruce Mogayzel of Framingham; Jane Mogayzel of Dartmouth; Mark Mogayzel wife Jeanne of Storrs, CT; and Lynn ( Mogayzel) Sivertsen of Dartmouth. She was also the mother of the late Susan Mogayzel. Her beloved grandchildren: Brandon Mogayzel, William Mogayzel III and Krista (Vieira) Machado and husband Bryan.
Her funeral mass will celebrated on Friday at 10 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are 5:00 to 8:00 on Thursday at Perry’s Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford.
