David Bruce, 84, of Fairhaven died February 4, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Walter and Mary Ellen (Collins) Bruce, he lived in Fairhaven most of his life.
He was formerly employed as a commercial fisherman on several vessels in the New Bedford fleet.
Mr. Bruce served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrews-Dahill Post 1531.
Survivors include 2 step-daughters, Bonnie Strohman of Dartmouth and Sandy Nunes of Fairhaven; a brother, William Bruce of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Helen Canady, Lorraine Edwards and Walter Bruce.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 8th at 1 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, February 7th from 4-8 PM.
