Charles (Charlie) Philip Myette, 90 died peacefully on February 4, 2013 at his home in Londonderry, NH with his children by his side. He was born on May 3, 1922 in Revere, MA, son of the late Ethel (Frasier) and Leo Philip Myette.
His family moved to Derry, NH in 1923 where Charlie attended Derry Schools and graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1938. He enlisted in the U.S. Army 35th Infantry, 25th Division in 1940, served in World War II, and is a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was an active member of the VFW Post 1617 of Derry and a past president. He married Helen Joanna Misiaszek of Londonderry, NH on July 1, 1945. He began working for the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company in 1945 and was a past president of the International Brotherhood of Telephone Workers. He retired in 1978.
He was a resident of Derry most of his life. After retirement, Charlie and his wife Helen spent about half of their time in Hobe Sound, Fla. They traveled extensively in their Winnebago motor home eventually visiting all 50 States. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration of Derry and St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Port St Lucie, Fla. He enjoyed storytelling, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing, his camp at the “Bog” and being with his family.
He is survived by his four children, Joanna Wentworth of Londonderry, Cheryl Soly of Derry, Charles (Chuck) Myette and his wife Nancy of Chester, and Karleen Stone of Nashua. In 1994 he lost his beloved wife Helen after 49 wonderful years together. He is also survived by his brother, Frank Galvin of Derry, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Ronald Myatt of Derry, and a sister Dorothea Grandmaison of Hampton, NH.
Calling hours were held Wednesday February 6, 2013 from 4-8 PM at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A funeral service was held on Thursday at 10:00 AM in the funeral home followed by burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pinkerton Academy Alumni Association, Derry, NH or Compassionate Care Hospice of Londonderry, NH.
