Carey --- John J. of West Roxbury, February 3, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Catherine F. (Cronin) Carey. Loving father of Marilyn F. Carey of West Roxbury, Janet Carey of West Roxbury and Brian Carey of Boston. Brother of the late Arthur I. Carey. Brother-in-law of Ann Carey of Popponesset and Patricia Cronin of Dedham. Puppy Papa to Winston and Spencer.

Author of “A Marine from Boston”, Marine Corps Veteran WWII, South Pacific.

Retiree of New England Telephone.


Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home 1803 Centre St, West Roxbury on Friday, Feb. 8, at 9:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours in the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00pm.

Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John’s name to St. Theresa of Avila Church 10 St. Theresa Ave., West Roxbury, MA 02132 or to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472

Special thanks to all of those kind souls who were so good to our Dad these last three years especially our great neighbors - Ann, Lisa, Bill, Celia,Tim, and The Grande’s, Nancy, Susie and the staff at Great Days for Seniors, the drivers from Cataldo Transportation, Sandy, Brooklyn and the wonderful people of the VA Hospital in West Roxbury, and an extra special thanks to Cathy, Eileen, Nancy and Norah who took such good care of Dad at home and brought him such happiness. Lastly, we are so grateful to Dad's "Little One" Elodie and all of the caring people at the Golden Living Center in Dedham who made his last seven months safe, comfortable and content.
