Julia Brooks Goode, 93, died Saturday, February 2, 2013, at her residence in High Shoals. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Tift Memorial Gardens. Her grandsons, Darrell Hobby, Ben Mathis, Chad Mathis, Todd Wilson, Kevin Morse, David Skeppstrom and Matthew Skeppstrom will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the service, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born Julia Martha Brooks on March 29, 1919 in Lawrenceville, Mrs. Goode was the daughter of the late Claude Jackson Brooks, Sr. and Ola Davis Brooks. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Marvin Lee Goode; her son, Jimmy Goode; her daughter, Freda Goode Harnage; and two brothers, Claude J. Brooks, Jr. and William G. Brooks; and one sister, Naomi Brooks Terry. She was a member of Omega Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children: Linda Wilson of Lilburn, Carolyn (Tracy) Morse of Roswell, Marlene (Melvin) Mathis of Tifton, Dane (Elinor) Goode of Dublin and Kay (Kenny) Berkeypile of Athens. She was the loving grandmother of 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by one brother, John Marion Brooks and one sister, Eugenia Brooks Sizemore, both of Tifton.
