
Rita D. (DeAngelis) Channell of Dennis Port and formerly of Natick died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
She was the beloved wife of Gordon S. Channell with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Natick, she was the daughter of the late Gino and Giacomina (Temprendola) DeAngelis.
Mrs. Channell was a graduate of Natick High School class of 1946.
In her early business career she worked at the Assessor’s Office in Natick where she was Chief Clerk. She resigned her post at the Assessor’s Office to accept a position with Zayre Corp. At Zayre, she was the Executive Secretary to the Treasurer and later Administrative Assistant to the Chairman of the Board. When Zayre closed she worked for its subsidiary B.J.’s Wholesale Club as an Executive Secretary to the President. She retired in 1995 after a 34 year career in the business world.
Upon retirement, Mrs. Channell moved with her husband to their home in Dennis Port, MA. She enjoyed genealogy as a hobby and spent many long hours tracing the history of her family’s roots here and abroad. She has preserved accurate records of heritage for future generations. Above all she cherished the time spent with her family, extended family and many friends.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter Lisa C. Stanton of Bellingham, one granddaughter Ashley Stanton Tonevski and her husband Jovan of Bellingham, one sister Paula DeAngelis Panchuck and her husband Michael of Natick, sisters in law Arlene Channell of Dennis Port, Marcia Brinson of Attleboro, brother in law Robert Woods Jr. of FL and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also the mother of the late Gordon S. Channel Jr., Alan S. Channell Esq., grandmother of the late Hillary Stanton Foulkes, mother in law of the late Robert E. Stanton Jr. and sister in law of the late Kenneth D. Channell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday February 7, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common.
Burial will follow in St Patrick Cemetery.
Visiting hours in the Funeral Home are Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
