Charles J. Marelli died peacefully at the Woburn Nursing Center Thursday. He was 81.
Born and raised in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Carlo and the late Louisa (Brougnoli) Marelli. He graduated from Graham Junior College and operated his own distributorship of Rubbermaid products, Dart and Co., until his retired. A Medford resident for over 50 years, Charlie was very active in civic affairs. A member of the Democratic Ward and City Committee, Charlie served for over 35 years as a trustee for the City’s Oak Grove Cemetery, where he was for most of his tenure the Chairman.
The beloved husband of the late Mary L. (DeAngelis), he was a devoted father to Charles and his wife Bo of Winchester and Maria Marelli of Provincetown. The loving grandfather of Matthew, Jonathan and Brittany, he also had two great-grandchildren: Amara and Harry, Jr. Charles also leaves his brother Louis, cousins David and Adriano and many dear friends.
Family and friends may visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home on Monday from 4 thru 8 and again on Tuesday, February 5th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass offered in St. Raphael Church, Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
