WABAN: James Michael “Jimmy” Medaglia, age 61, of Waban, a man devoted to his faith, family and friends, died on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital after a long and valiant struggle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Born in Roslindale on April 20, 1951, he was a son of the late Thomas A. and Jeanette (Lambert) Medaglia. He was raised in Newton and was a graduate of the Newton North High School’s Career and Vocational Technical Program. He then served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Jimmy enjoyed working as an auto mechanic at his family’s business, Medaglia Brothers in Wellesley, before becoming disabled. He had lived primarily in the Metro West area, prior to entering Waban Health and Rehab, his home for the past several years. Jim loved to read scripture and to pray. His love of the Lord Jesus was first in his life. He is described as a “major” Red Sox fan, and looked forward to visits from devoted family members and his pastor.
He is survived by two daughters, Maureen L. Medaglia and Jennifer D. McGillis and her husband Steven of Natick; a son, James M. “Jamie” Medaglia, Jr., of East Bridgewater; six grandchildren, Curtis, Alicia, Steven, Jr., Sean, Scott, and Logan; two sisters, Cecelia G. Lyttle and her husband William of Framingham, and Jeanette Davis and her husband Raymond of Natick; a brother, Thomas A. Medaglia, Jr. and his wife Jane of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held at Westgate Church, 100 Winter Street, Weston, on Tuesday, Feb. 5th at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Needham. Visiting hours will be at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Monday 4 – 8p.m.
