FRANKLIN: Lawrence Philip “Larry” Boudreau, age 65, a longtime draftsman with Ryan Iron Works, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his Franklin home on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. He was the devoted husband of Mary P. (Keady) Boudreau.
Born, raised and educated in Natick, he was a son of the late Virginia Mary (Quinlan) and Philip Joseph Boudreau, III. He graduated from Natick High School with the Class of 1966 and then earned an Associate’s Degree in Drafting from the Franklin Institute of Technology. Larry was fond of flying and was on the cusp of getting his pilot’s license when he entered the Army. Of his two years on active duty, he served one full year overseas. An expert marksman with both the M-14 and M-16, now Sergeant Boudreau was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge with two overseas bars, the US Army’s Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Combat Medal from the South Vietnamese government, and the Army Commendation Medal for significant meritorious service. He continued with the Reserves through 1973.
In June of that year, Lawrence married the love of his life, a young lady called Mary who hailed from Athenry in Co. Galway, Ireland. In the early part of their marriage he did drafting work in Sherborn while attending Northeastern University. In 1978, he began his employment with Ryan Iron Works of Raynham as a draftsman. In the course of his long career with the company he became a project manager, a position he still currently held. He and Mary had made their home in Franklin since 1983, and were happiest in the company of their much-loved family. Larry enjoyed mountain biking, archery, attending car shows, and his particular hobby, photography.
He is survived by Mary; their daughters, Nancy M. Francis and her husband Scott of Foxborough, Linda M. Anderson and her husband David of Medway, and Brenda L. Boudreau and her fiancé Greg Pavlisko of Foxborough; four grandchildren, Aidan, Liam, Macelyn, and Conor; a sister and brother, Mary Lou Boudreau of Natick, and Gary S. Boudreau and his wife JoAnn of Bellingham; his mother-in-law, Maureen (Daly) Keady of Athenry, Co. Galway; and a large and loving extended family on both sides of the Atlantic.
