Manuel Silvia Jr, age 99 of South Somerset passed away January 30, 2013. Born in Arrifes, São Miguel, Açores, he was the husband of Evangelina (Cardoza) Silvia, to whom he was married 74 years and son of the late Manuel and Mary (Soares) Silvia. Manuel was a smash piecer having worked with his wife at Sagamore Mill and at Berkshire Hathaway for 45 years. He was an accordion player, who loved flea markets, fixing musical instruments, cutting the lawn, his dogs Spike & Maxie and spending time with his wife and family.
Mr. Silvia was the father of William Silvia of Niantic, CT, Mary Constance Ferreira of Fall River and the late Margaret Paulette Salva. He was the brother of David and Arthur Silvia, both of Fall River and the late Joseph, Antone, Noel and Bento Silvia. He was the grandfather of 14, great grandfather of 17 and great great grandfather of 4. He was also the grandfather of the late Eric Salva.
His funeral will take place in the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River SATURDAY with a calling hour from 8:00 A.M. to services in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. www.rogersfuneral.com
