John Patrick Castrios, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the home of his daughter, Pam Bailey of Nashua, NH after a lengthy illness.
John was born in Lawrence, MA on March 30, 1925, son of the late Victor and Catherine (Goldsborough) Castrios. John had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he was employed at the International Paper Company and the Oxford Paper Company of Lawrence, as well as Zurbach Steel of Salem, NH. Prior to his retirement he had worked for the City of Methuen School System as a Custodian and Ice Rink employee.
The husband of the late Mary (Radcliffe) Castrios who passed away in 1995, John was also predeceased by his sons David and John Castrios, and his daughter Patricia (Castrios) Pelich. He is survived by his children Richard Castrios and his wife Suzan of Lowell, MA, Pamela Bailey and her husband Dennis of Nashua, NH, Sheila Foster and her husband Kent of New York, Brian Castrios of Haverhill, MA, and Thomas Castrios of Utah, his sister Elizabeth (Castrios) Veilleux and his brother Victor Castrios of Methuen, MA, his grandchildren Richard, Michelle, Ginger, Kerry, Rich, Christopher, Leslie, Shari, Lisa, and Jennifer, as well as great grandchildren: Liam, Drew, Philip, Lily, Lucy, Johnathan, Alexander, Benjamin, Katelyn and Madelyn. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his brother Andrew and his sisters Helen Lavoie, Julia Castrios, and Catherine Murphy.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA. Family and friends may call on Monday morning from 9 to 10 A.M. at the funeral home.
