Ruth E. McCord, 85, of Lafayette, died on January 30, 2013 at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette, IN following an extended illness.
She was born on October 3, 1927 in Akron, Ohio the daughter of Edward N. and Olive E. (Goodyear) Gillespie.
She was in production at Delco Remy for 30 years and retired in 1985.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Rebecca Ann (husband, Jeffrey) Hiatt of Chattanooga, TN, Christine J. (husband, Steven) Peppler of Lafayette, and Deborah Sue (husband, Jim) Newlon of Kokomo; 2 sisters, Virginia Gwaltney of Anderson and Margaret Mayless of Arizona; 2 brothers, Harry L. Gillespie of Anderson and Larry J. Gillespie of Florida; 4 grandchildren, Melissa McGeehon, Angela Hiatt, Jenny Newlon, and Ryan Newlon; 1 great-grandson, Douglas Schnuth and Several Nieces and Nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thelbert E. McCord on October 3, 2001; 3 brothers, Edward Gillespie, Samuel Gillespie, and John Gillespie; 2 sisters, Helen Mollenkoff and Dorothy Mikesell.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2:00pm at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Ned Clark officiating. The burial will take place in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
