Richard J. Scarnati of Mystic died Sunday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born in Bronx, NY on July 6, 1939 to William and Margaret (Stewart) Scarnati.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia (Molony) Scarnati and daughters Denise Scarnati of Mystic, Christine Scarnati of Ledyard and Janet Byard of Palm Harbor, FL, as well as granddaughters Rikki and Rachel Byard also of Palm Harbor, FL. Richard also leaves his father, William, of Del Ray Beach, FL, brother Robert of Suffern, NY, sisters Carole La Ruffa of Williamsburg, VA, Dianne Orofino of Pompano Beach, FL, Margaret Sheryll of Ronkonkoma, NY and beloved godson Bill La Ruffa of Falmouth, MA and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Mystic, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Welding Society, Friends of Mount Vernon Society, and the Abigail Adams Society.
He worked as the New England District Sales Manager for Harris Calorific Division of the Lincoln Electric Company of Cleveland OH.
Richard's family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday from 5-8pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, E. Main Street, Mystic on Wednesday at 10am. Fr. Charles A. McGrail, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Old Mystic.
