FALL RIVER, MA … Andrew J. Plocica, 85, of Tiverton, RI died Friday, January 25, 2013 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Carlene (White) Plocica.
He was born in Fall River a son of the late Josef and Dorota (Fronczek) Plocica and had lived in Tiverton since 1968.
He was a daily communicant and very active with Holy Ghost Church, Tiverton, RI.
Mr. Plocica served in the U.S. Navy for four years during W.W.II where he attended Signal School in Michigan and was assigned to the U.S.S. Stribling. After he was in the Navy he joined the U.S. Coast Guard for 20 years attaining the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. While in the Coast Guard he served on the Legare and the Bibb among many others. He also was stationed at the Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, NJ and at the Coast Guard Life Saving Station #10 in Louisville, KY. Following his career in the Coast Guard Mr. Plocica worked as a carpenter with Wardwell Lumber in Bristol, RI for 19 years.
Mr. Plocica was a member of the Rhythm Box Buddies of Fall River and enjoyed painting, singing with the Light Opera, classical music, and woodworking.
Survivors include his widow, 2 daughters; Jean Bua and her husband Joseph of Franklin, MA and Susan Duva and her husband Anthony of North Attleboro, 2 sons; James Plocica of Dedham, MA and Joseph Plocica and his fiancé Gina Sevigny of Tiverton, 2 sisters; Jane Bis of Kalamazoo, MI and Janice Ferreira of New Bedford, a brother Tadeusz Plocica of Fall River, 7 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Dziecynski, Julia Plocica, Casmir Plocica, and John Plocica.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Thursday at 9AM from the BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway, Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Holy Ghost Church, 311 Hooper St. Tiverton, RI.
