Jean M. (Pendergast) Quigley, 77, of Natick, died on Sunday, January 27, 2013. She was the beloved wife of George E. Quigley with whom she shared 51 years of marriage.
A Natick resident for 45 years, she was born in Somerville and raised in New Bedford, and was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Parrott) Pendergast.
For 28 years, Jean was a Realtor and Office Manager of George Quigley Real Estate in downtown Natick, working side by side with her husband. She retired in 1998.
For many years she was active in several committees and volunteer work at St. Patrick’s Parish. She was instrumental in starting the successful St. Patrick’s Bingo Night and President of the Blessed Mother Sodality.
In her spare time, Jean loved to sew and was a talented seamstress. She also enjoyed baking and cooking for family and friends.
Jean demonstrated virtually every day her heartfelt belief to always try to do something for others. She visited people in Natick many for years who were sick or lonely and lovingly brought to their homes her famous chicken soup, delicious blueberry muffins, coffee cake, or a fleece blanket she had made. Her generosity and compassion knew no bounds. She will always be remembered by those families who experienced her kindness.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three loving daughters, Nancy Quigley of Natick, Julie Moore of Wellesley, Mary Quigley of San Francisco, CA, her brothers John Pendergast of Fair Haven, Bill Pendergast of FL, Jimmy Pendergast of Bellingham, Bobby Pendergast of New Bedford, sisters Kay Guliano of FL, Mary Muldoon of New Bedford, and Janet Kantor of CA. She is also survived by her cherished grandson Alex Moore of Wellesley, sisters in law Patricia Russell of Marlboro and Barbara Quigley of Natick and their families, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews and her favorite dog Sydney.
She was also the sister of the late Phyllis Boucher.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, January 31, at 9:00 A.M. at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Patrick’s Church.
Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home.
Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
