Franklin—Yolanda C. (DeBaggis) Sciolto 84, of Franklin, died Friday January 25, 2013 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in Worcester, following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph D. Sciolto who died in 1986.
Born in Milford, on December 31, 1928 a daughter of the late Elenterio and Josephine (D’Loia) DeBaggis, she was a lifelong Franklin resident.
She was educated in Franklin schools, and received her license as a physical therapist, one of the first in Massachusetts, and worked at the Wrentham Development Center until retiring.
Yolanda was the matriarch of the family, she hosted her family and grandchildren at her home, she loved music, playing bingo, candlepin bowling, where she advanced to the state finals and will be remembered as a very loving and generous person.
She was a member of the Franklin Sons of Italy and a lifetime communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Franklin.
Yolanda is survived by her children, David J. Sciolto of Franklin, Janet Sanford of Kansas and Joanne Curtis of Bellingham, a sister Albina Lopes of Lakeland, Fla., and her grandchildren, Lauri Sciolto, Robert, Michael, Timothy, amie Sanford, and Joseph Curtis, & great grandchildren Catlin, Jake, Isabelle and Amber Sanford & Aubriana Curtis.
She is the sister of the late Reginald E. “Reggie” DeBaggis, William DeBaggis and Aleanor DelBene.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass Wed. Jan. 30th, at 10AM in the lower church of St. Mary’s 1 Church Sq. Franklin. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers donation in her memory may be sent to St. Mary’s Church, Franklin.
