Winifred C. (Hayes) Szynal, 87, of New Bedford died January 26, 2013 at home after a brief period of declining health.
She was the wife of the late Albert T. Szynal.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Patrick and Anna (Devlin) Hayes, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Szynal was a communicant and active member of St. Lawrence Church.
She enjoyed politics and helping her late brother Danny Hayes with his campaigns. Mrs. Szynal was proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed listening to Irish music.
Survivors include her son, Christopher Szynal of New Bedford; 3 daughters, Carol Cote, Sheila Kirby and her husband Larry and Ann Szynal, all of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Connie Andrews of Arcadia, CA and Patricia Fal of New Bedford; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Thomas Szynal, Joan Wilmot and Timothy Szynal and the sister of the late Daniel Hayes, Christopher Hayes, Frances Andrews and Sr. Mary Eileen Hayes, R.S.M.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Wednesday, January 30th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday, January 29th from 4-8 PM.
