LOWELL—Susen M. (Freda) Rivera, 49 years old, died unexpectedly, Saturday July 3rd, at her home, in Lowell. She was the wife of Jose Rivera, who survives her.
She was born in Waltham, on June 23, 1955, a daughter of the late Edward and Rosamary (Arthur) Freda. She was raised by her step-parents: Theresa Shanley, of Lowell, and the late Charles Shanley.
Surviving her besides her husband and step-mother are three sons: Larry Freda, Mark Walker, and Joseph Rivera, all of Lowell; two daughters: Tanaya Rivera, of Lawrence; and Tanisha Rivera, of Lowell; seven grandchildren: Allyce Freda; Kassandra Walker; Vididiana Gonzalez; Ricky Ortiz, Jr.; Rome Freda; Ademies Freda; and Leilany Gonzalez; two sons-in-law: Nector Gonzalez, and Ricky Ortiz, Sr.; nine brothers and sisters: Edward Freda, Nancy and Benjamin Cotto; Deborah Shanley, Barbara Shanley, Charles and Michelle Shanley, all of Lowell; Edward and Diane Shanley, and Robert and Suzanne Shanley, both of Chelmsford; and James and Laura Shanley, of Billerica; her godson: Robert Cotto; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was the mother of the late Yolanda Freda and sister of the late Bridget Shanley.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 PM on Thursday, July 8th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her funeral service will be held Friday, July 9th, at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial in the Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
