Obituary

GLOUCESTER: John H. Porter, 98 of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Gloucester, MA. He was the husband of the late Helen (Miller) Porter, who passed away in 1997 and the late Rosemary E. “Bunny” (Edington) Porter, who passed away in 2011.
Born in Malden, MA on October 16, 1914, he was the son of the late Henry P. and Ethel (Felch) Porter. John graduated from Brewster Academy in 1932 and also attended Babson College.
During World War II John built PT boats, he then went on to work in the printing industry until his retirement in 2006. John was also an avid golfer, shooting his age at 91.
He is survived by three sons, John H. Porter, Jr. and his wife Louisa of Moultonborough, NH, Richard Porter and his partner Denise Schloman of Merrimack, NH and Robert Porter and his wife Nancy of Orange, CA; stepson, James Dudley and his wife, Elise of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and two nieces.
In keeping with his wishes services will be held privately by the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester, MA 01930.
