Nancy (Garcia) Paiva, 74, of East Freetown died January 22, 2013 at home after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Kenneth J. "Spanky" Paiva.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John M. and Irene (Souza) Garcia, she lived in East Freetown for the last 50 years.
Mrs. Paiva was formerly employed by Aerovox for many years until her retirement.
Survivors include 3 brothers, Richard Garcia, Donald Garcia and Bruce Garcia, all of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Gail Duarte, Shirley Fernandes and Sandy Tavares, all of New Bedford; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer Shaw and her husband Joe of Lakeville and Jessica Paiva of East Freetown; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Shaw; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Kenneth Paiva.
Her visiting hours will he held on Friday, January 25th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
