Obituary

Angelo V. Shinas, 82, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 20th in his home in Worcester, MA. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Kyriaki (Missou) Shinas. Two daughters, Marianna Pio and her husband Thomas of Woodstock, CT, and Vasilia (Shinas) Kaltounis and her husband George of Paros, Greece; two sons, Dr. Vasilis Shinas and his wife Roy (Sotiropoulos) Shinas of Athens, Greece, and Peter Shinas and his wife Dr. Valerie (Harlow) Shinas of Worcester; seven grandchildren, Angelina and Stephanie Shinas, Christina (Shinas) Tai and her husband Wilson, Angelo and Kyraki Shinas, Michael Pio and Nicholas Kaltounis and one Great Grandchild Eli Tai.
Angelo was born in Nikaia Pireaus Greece in 1930, the son of the late Anna and Vasilis Shinas. He was predeceased by his three brothers John, George and Anthony. Angelo worked as a shoemaker by trade while he was in Greece. Angelo and his family immigrated to the United States on September 9th, 1970 and settled in Worcester Massachusetts. He continued as a shoemaker at Brown Shoe Company and later was employed at Table Talk Pies both located in Worcester MA.
The funeral is Monday, January 28th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 10:00 A.M. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A visiting hour is from 8:30 until 9:30 A.M. Monday in the funeral home.
