Ellen A. Downey, 84, of New Bedford died Tuesday July 6, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Stephen P. and Mary (McKay) Downey, she had lived in New Bedford for most of her life. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School, Class of 1937.
Miss Downey was formerly employed as a clerk with the New Bedford Housing Authority until her retirement.
Survivors include a sister, Mary E. Downey of New Bedford; a brother, Joseph A. Downey of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a niece, Elizabeth Quann of Shoreline, Washington; and 3 nephews, J. Stephen Downey of Asheville, North Carolina, David J. Downey of Fair Oaks, California, and Thomas A. Downey of Milwaukee.
She was the sister of the late Rev. Stephen J. Downey.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday July 8, 2004 at 10 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
