Maria Lourdes (Freitas) Sousa, age 97 passed away January 18, 2013 at the New Bedford Health Care Center. She was formerly of Watuppa Heights, Fall River. Born in Madeira, she was the widow of Manuel Sousa and daughter of the late John and Charlotte Freitas. Mrs. Sousa was a retired collar setter at Shelburne Shirt Co. and a member of Our Lady of Health Parish. She loved to sing to her family and friends, gardening and looking for 4 leaf clovers.
Maria was the mother of Kenneth Sousa (wife Suzanne) of N. Dartmouth, Leonard Sousa (wife Paulette) of Columbia, CT, Beverly Couto (husband Stephen) of Fall River, Brenda Costa (husband Kenneth) of Fall River and the late Franklin, Gerald and Gabriel Sousa. She leaves a special granddaughter Heather Rodrigues and several other grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She also had several late siblings.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River THURSDAY 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. at 10:30 A.M. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours WEDNESDAY 5-8 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com
