Elias “Louie” Bamihas, 86, of Worcester, died Friday, January 18th in St. Vincent Hospital, with his wife of 33 years, Judith A. (Corder) Bamihas by his side. He is survived by two nieces, Victoria Stavropoulos of Athens, Greece and Eileen M. Wood and her husband, James of East Brookfield; three nephews, Lawrence A. Corder, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Warren, Timothy B. Corder and his wife, Kim of Ware and Michael P. Corder of North Brookfield; two great-nieces, Hannah Wood and Riley Corder; and three great-nephews, Liam, Logan and Ethan Corder. His brother Spiros Bamihas and his wife, Eleni predeceased him.
He was born in Corfu, Greece the son of Philip and Victoria (Liazos) Bamihas, and came to this country in 1956. Mr. Bamihas had served in the Greek Army during the Greek Civil War. He had been employed as a baker for Table Talk Pie for 27 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. Bamihas was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Order of AHEPA. He will be remembered as a loving husband, uncle and friend and will be missed by those who knew him.
His funeral is Tuesday, January 22nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be Friday in Big Isaac Cemetery, Big Isaac, West Virginia.
