Jean Elizabeth (Carlsson) Rubin, age 69, of 29 Griswold Street, Pawcatuck, formerly of Mystic, died Thursday at the Westerly Health Center after a brief illness.
Jean was born in Hartford on May 15, 1935 the daughter of Axel Sigfried Carlsson and Clara Elizabeth Noreen Carlsson.
Raised in Mystic, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Stonington High School. She later attended the University of Chicago.
Jean was amployed as a clerk at the Stonington Post Office for over 20 years prior to her retirement in 1993.
Survivors include her children, Jeffrey and Kaila Rubin, her siblings, Richard I. Carlsson of Heyward, CA,M. Linea Burke of Stonington, CT,Karin I. Kiem of Old Lyme, CT, andMaryann Custer of Gretna, VA., and four grandchildren,Nicole, Stephen, Daniel & Emily Rubin of Pawcatuck, CT.
She was predeceased by a brother, Nils H. Carlsson of Mystic.She loved gardening, reading, & watching children grow & learn. She had a wicked sense of humor, but hated to see anybody sad. She always wanted the best for her family.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, historic downtown Mystic, on Wednesday from 10-11am immdiately followed by a service at 11am. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.
