Obituary

Edward Eugene Irwin, 82, of Clarksville, TN, died on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Spring Meadows Healthcare. He was born on November 14, 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Cyrus S. Irwin and Myrtle Davis Irwin. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Teresa Evola.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with The Rev. Mickey Richaud and The Rev. Dorothy Hartzog officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Trinity Parish House.
Edward was a retired APSU Professor of Language and Literature and Professor Emeritus. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta, Friends of the Library, Clarksville Cellarmasters, and ROMEO.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Sparks Irwin of Clarksville, TN; two sons, Don Irwin (Joey Daigle) of Phoenix, AZ and Thomas Masey (Janet) of San Diego, CA; two daughters, Peggy Seay (Barker) and Barbara Miller (Tony) of Clarksville, TN; sister, Ruth Hale of Murray, KY; three grandchildren, Joe Henry Evola, Rebecca Masey, and Eileen Wagoner; six great grandchildren, Jason Groves, Amber Green, Joshua Evola, Chloe Wagoner, Elle Wagoner, and Lilly Hazel Wagoner; and a great great granddaughter, Jocelyn Grace Green.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Cellarmasters of Clarksville, members of APSU Language and Literature Department, and David Steinquist.
