Evelyn J. Cook, 91

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Evelyn J. (Brown) Cook, age 91, a lifelong resident of Mansfield passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday January 16, 2013. She was the wife of the late Harry S. Cook.
Born in Attleboro, MA on August 6, 1921, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Palmer) Brown.
Evelyn grew up in Mansfield and was a graduate of Mansfield High School. She was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family and had also been employed in the purchasing department at the Foxboro Co., and in the bookkeeping department at the former Metals & Controls in Attleboro.
A woman of devout faith, Mrs. Cook was the longest standing member at the First Christian Church in West Mansfield and was also quite active in the church’s Mission Circle.
Evelyn’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She loved family gatherings at her home in West Mansfield, especially in the summer months around the pool. In her spare time she enjoyed reading.
She is survived by her devoted children, Harry E. Cook of Mansfield, Dennis S. Cook of Taunton, Wendy R. Beutel of Fredricktown, Ohio, Carol E. Pace of Mansfield and Scott E. Cook of Brockton. She was the sister of Earl Brown and was pre-deceased by 4 siblings. Mrs. Cook is also survived by her cherished 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, January 21st at 10:00 A.M. in the First Christian Church, 13 Otis St., Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 20th from 3:00-6:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Evelyn’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Hospice, the Community Visiting Nurse Agency, Inc. 10 Emory St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
