Obituary

Patricia M. (Smith) Blanchard, 76, of Worcester, died Sunday January 13th, at home with her family surrounding her with love.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Francis Blanchard in 2007. She leaves her seven children and their spouses, Michael and Briana Blanchard, Cathy and Robert Webster, April and Mark Babineau, Mark and Judy Blanchard, Scott and Maureen Blanchard, Lee and Paul McKenna, and Lynn and Cathy Blanchard, as well as nine grandchildren. She was the daughter of Minnie and John Smith of Worcester. She also leaves her sister Dorothy Forgette of Auburn, her sister-in-law, Claire Blanchard of Virginia, and is predeceased by her sister Rita Jermyn.
Pat dedicated her life to her family. She worked for many years caring for the ill and elderly, and teaching illiterate adults to read. In 2009 she received the Governor’s award for helping to promote tourism in Massachusetts. She volunteered with several organizations around the city, including RSVP, Convention Visitor’s Bureau, DCU Center, the Worcester Art Museum, and Auburn District Nurses. She had a lifelong desire to learn and was an avid reader, as well as a talented artist, specializing in drawing portraits.
A memorial service in the celebration of her life will be Thursday, January 17th at 11:00 A.M. at Pakachoag Church, 203 Pakachaog St., Auburn, Ma. Burial service will be private. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements.
