Dr. George Alexander Boutselis, a resident of North Andover, and beloved husband of Antonia "Toni" (Katsikas) Boutselis, died at Spaulding Rehabilitiation Hospital in Boston, after a long, courageous battle with a chronic illness, surrounded by his loving family on Monday morning, January 14, 2013. He was 70 years old.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on November 4, 1942, he was the beloved son of the late Alexander George and Rena (Zingovas) Boutselis. Dr. Boutselis was a graduate of St. Anselm's College in Manchester, New Hampshire, in 1965 and the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1969. Upon graduating from dental school, he served in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne, stationed at Camp Evans at the DMZ Vietnam, from 1970 to 1971. He was a local dentist, serving the Greater Lowell area, since he opened his practice in 1973. His life was devoted to his loving family and his patients. He also enjoyed gardening around his home and loved raising flowers and vegetables. Above all, George was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Besides his beloved wife, Toni, he will be very sorely missed by his loving children; Dr. Alexander G. Boutselis of Indiana, married to Dr. Irene George, Dr. Nicholas J. and his wife Dr. Mina Boutselis of Andover, and Stephanie S. and her husband Robert Looney of North Andover, siblings; James E. Boutselis of Lowell, William and his wife Bonnie Boutselis of Hudson, New Hampshire and John C. Boutselis of Litchfield, New Hampshire, brothers and sisters-in-law; Angie and her husband Carmen Genzabella of Biddeford, Maine, Ann S. and her husband Anthony Manchini of North Andover, Joan and her husband Peter Deschane of Chelmsford and the late Christos G. Katsikas and Irene Clarke, six grandchildren; Tess, Fallon, Dimi, George, Sabrina and Benjamin and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service was celebrated in Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 71 Chandler Road, Andover, on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visitation was held at the church, prior to the service, from 10 to 11 AM. Interment was in Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dr. George Boutselis to Massachusetts General Hospital Rheumatology Unit.
