Clyde Purvis, 83, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Purvis Cemetery, Berrien County, Georgia, with Rev. Huey Nichols officiating. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Purvis was born January 17, 1921 in Berrien County, Georgia, to the late Elbert and Janie Sirmans Purvis. He lived in the community since 1980 and was a retired carpenter. Mr. Purvis served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 5250, Tifton, Georgia.
Mr. Purvis is survived by his daughter: Margaret Diane Arnold, Moultrie, GA; two grandchildren; Clarence Edward Arnold and Tammy Arnold Griffin; five great grandchildren; brother and sister: Curtis R. Purvis and Malone Connor, both of Tifton, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Wilson Purvis, three brothers and one sister.
