Carey, Catherine L. 84, of Plymouth, died unexpectedly at Jordan Hospital January 10. Wife of the late Robert J. Carey. Mother of Christine Kaloupek of Weymouth, Steven Carey and his wife Ann of Plymouth, Candace Landers and her husband Michael of Plymouth and Brian Carey of Plymouth. She also leaves her long time companion James McClellan Sr. of Pembroke, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Catherine was born in Boston the daughter of Arthur and Priscilla (Cook) Davis. She grew up in Randolph and went to school there. Catherine worked for the Boston Globe for many years. Kay, or Kit, as some would call her, had a passion for word problems and crossword puzzles, a deep understanding of current affairs and loved to watch televised golf. In recent years, Catherine traveled and explored the world with her friend, Jim, always arriving home with wonderful stories. Catherine always found time for her close friends and family. Catherine loved to socialize with friends, family or strangers and would have fascinating conversations with everyone. Her knowing smile will be greatly missed.
Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home 373 Court St. (Rte 3A) N. Plymouth on Thursday January 17, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with a sharing of remembrances at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Bromfield St 5th floor, Boston, MA 02108. Burial will be private at a later date
