Obituary

BRIDGEWATER - Daniel D. "Dagger" Costa, 84, of Bridgewater died Tuesday at home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Helen C. (Maculewicz) Costa for 54 years.

Born March 22, 1920 in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late John and Louise Costa.

Mr. Costa was raised and educated in Bridgewater and a lifelong resident.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during World War II.

Mr. Costa worked as a foreman in the shoe industry, including Knapp Shoe. in Brockton, Wright Shoe in Rockland, Bridgewater Coop, Regals in Whitman and Frye Shoe in Marlboro.

He also worked for the Town of Bridgewater for a short period.

In addition to his wife Helen, he is survived by his daughter, Susan H. Sharpe-Marmorstein and her husband Gerry of Bridgewater; two grandchildren, Arthur Sharpe and Dennis Sharpe, both of Bridgewater; two nieces, Rita Murphy and Louise Chippinni, both of Bridgewater; a nephew, Donald Costa of Bridgewater and his Godchild, Barbara Farnum of Taunton.

His funeral will be at 8 a.m. Friday from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater. Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.
