Campbell of Brockton, July 3, 2004, Frederick F. “Gunner” Campbell, 82 years. Loving husband of Ednamae (Mousette) (Ashley) Campbell. Father of Kevin Campbell of Montana; Brian Campbell of CA and Michael Campbell of Brockton. Stepfather of Stephen B. Ashley of Brockton. Brother of Mary Hopkins of Brockton and James Campbell formerly of Brockton.

Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at a 10 am. Burial with Military Honors in the Veterans Lot in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 6-8 pm.

Obituary

Mr. Campbell died Saturday at the Brockton VA Medical Center after a period of failing health. Born in Brockton, son of the late Frederick F. and Mary (Cantwell) Campbell, Sr. Lifelong resident of Brockton and graduate of Brockton High School, where he was an All star basketball player. During WW II he served in the US Naval Reserves before entering the US Marine Corps. He was a Sergeant in the Marines serving in the Marianas Island and he also received the Purple Heart for wounds received in Guam . He retired from the US Postal Service in Brockton after many years. He also worked part time as a security guard at Stonehill College. He was a member and for three years was the commander of the DAV Chapter 32 in Brockton. Life member of Club National, Conte Memorial Club and the Enterprise Club. He also loved all sports.

He is survived by his wife, Ednamae (Mousette) (Ashley) Campbell. three sons, Kevin Campbell of Montana; Brian Campbell of CA and Michael Campbell of Brockton and a stepson Stephen B. Ashley of Brockton, one granddaughter and one great grandson, a sister Mary Hopkins of Brockton and a brother James Campbell formerly of Brockton
