Charles William Barfield, 85, of Tifton died Friday, January 11, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Jeff Pangle will officiate with burial to follow in Brushy Creek Church Cemetery in Irwin County. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 13, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Barfield was born on March 9, 1927 in Berrien County and was the son of Ruel E. Barfield and Roxie Harper Barfield, both deceased. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons, Laverne Barfield and Curtis Barfield; two brothers, R. L. Barfield and Hollis Barfield; and one granddaughter. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Waterloo Baptist Church.
Mr. Barfield is survived by his long-time companion, Shirley Baker of Tifton; his children and their spouses, Landis and Jerry West of Atlanta, Charles Glen Barfield of Columbus, Delean “Sister” and Enoch Brown of Columbus, Susan Baker of Columbus, Damon Barfield of Columbus and Stephanie Owens of Atlanta; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jean and J. C. Howell of Enigma; one brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Carolyn Barfield of Tifton; one sister-in-law, Mamie Barfield of Tifton; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
