Charles R. "Dick" Letendre 85 of 87 Pleasant St., died peacefully in his sleep after an illness at the Quaboag on the Common Nursing Home in West Brookfield. He leaves a sister, Lorretta Lacaire of Spencer, three nephews; Ronald J. Lacaire of Brookfield, Douglas Letendre of Gardner, Norman Letendre of Spencer, and a niece, Linda Mandella of Spencer. Born in Spencer he was the son of Ovide & Eliza (Barrett) Letendre and has lived here all his life. Mr. Letendre worked in the shoe industry for over 25 years and worked at East Brookfield Shoe and Brown Shoe in Worcester. He also worked as a custodian for 11 years at David Prouty Junior High School in Spencer and was a crossing guard for many years, retiring in 1986. He was a decorated Army veteran of WW II serving in the European theatre. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Spence and was a lifelong avid swimmer.At the families request funeral services will be private. Following a Mass at St. Mary's Church burial will be in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers.
