Acushnet – Alice M. (Vancraeynest) Slade, 76, of Acushnet, died Saturday, July 3, 2004, at home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Walter J. Slade.
Mrs. Slade was born in Wevelgem, Belgium, the daughter of the late Alfonse and Martha (Vearaest) Vancraeynest, and had resided in Acushnet for 40 years. Prior to he retirement she was a Certified Nurses Assistant at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. She was a Past Worthy Matron, Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 49 of New Bedford, MA.
She is survived by a daughter: Marie S. Holmes of New Bedford; 3 sisters: Lea Maxy of Belgium, Maria Wyseur of Belgium and Yvonne Boucquez of Belgium; 3 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, funeral services are private.
