Obituary

BEVERLY: Grace Evelyn (Glibbery) Davies, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on January 8, 2013 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Beverly. She was the loving wife of Alcwyn F. “Al” Davies who predeceased her in 1994.
Born on February 1, 1924 in London, England, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Thorne) Glibbery from Plaistow, London, England. Grace, along with her husband, Al and their four children immigrated to the United States from England in 1963. Living in Wakefield until 2006 when she moved to Beverly.
During World War II, she worked assembling gas masks for the troops. Grace loved to travel, especially to visit family in Liverpool, London and Colchester, England. She also loved to cook, entertain in her home, garden, sew and crochet afghans and scarves. She also enjoyed reading, watching old movies and organizing her extensive photo collection.
She was the loving mother of Alcwyn D. Davies of Beverly, Alan R. Davies of Cotuit, Ann E. Morgan of Hampton, NH and Philip J. Davies of Alamo, CA; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Mary Ann Thomas of Colchester, England and sister in law, Joy Glibbery of Mallorca, Spain.
A celebration of her life will be held on her birthday. There are no visiting hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
