Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Elizabeth B. (Giles) Buckley passed away Monday morning at her home after a brief illness. She was the wife for 58 years of the late John A. Buckley. Born in Brockton, daughter of the late Thomas and Julia (Coleman) Giles, she was a lifelong resident of Brockton and a graduate of Brockton High School. For many years she assisted her husband in the family owned business, the former Modern Shippers in Brockton. During WWII she was employed as a secretary at the WPA. She had also been a playground instructor and lifeguard.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Edith Stein Church, a member of the Ladies Sodality, a member of the Girls Club for over 50 years; she enjoyed traveling, cooking, knitting and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by four daughters, Kathleen G. Page and her husband Michael of Bedford, NH; Maureen A. Bourne and her husband Robert of Easton, Jane E. Madden and her husband Joseph of Bridgewater; Susan M. Lima and her husband Leonard of Brockton, two sons John A. “Jay” Buckley and his wife Susan of Bridgewater and Paul P. Buckley and his wife Judith of Bridgewater, 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Will, Thomas and Henry Giles and Kathleen O’Brien and grandmother of the late Sean Looney.
