Frederick F. Bodzioch Sr., 90, of West Springfield and formerly of Chicopee died suddenly on Jan 4, 2013 at home. He was born in Chicopee on Aug 8, 1922 to Stanley and Agnes (Koslawska) Bodzioch. He was schooled in Chicopee and served in the U.S. Army, 739 Brigade Anti Aircraft during WWII and received several medals and commendations. He loved the outdoors with his metal detector, coin collecting and scratching lottery tickets. He retired from Chicopee Manufacturing as a machinist around 1984. He was a life time member of the Pioneer Valley Sportsmen Club and the American Legion Post 452. He was predeceased by his loving wife Jane (Zielinski) Bodzioch his son Ronald Bodzioch and daughter in law Donna Bodzioch. He was also predeceased by his sister Angie Fonfara and brother Joseph Bodzioch. Fred is survived by his son Frederick Jr. and his wife Toni of West Springfield; three grandchildren Karen Gaffey of Moodus, CT, Tina Palmacci of Topsfield, MA and Mark Bodzioch of West Springfield. He also leaves four great grandchildren Austin, Joseph and Sierra Bodzioch and Dylan White and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Wed Jan 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM from the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee with a Funeral Home prayer service to begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow with military honors in St Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Wed Jan 9, 2013 from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Donations may be made in Frederick’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
